Zolnoski Quohog Bandits

It was a covert operation. Probably the most questionable thing our father ever asked us to do! But… the ocean called him. We scrambled to the waters edge; be it Cape Cod, or Horse Neck beach on the RI coastline, and we carried our beach pails, we dug with our tiny toes & secretly unearthed massive Quohogs, and hid them in our pails. This was big & we were a team of 5… not yet 6… that would be Vermont. At home, Rockland St., in Taunton Massachusetts, in that big Victorian we rented, we scurried around that massive vintage kitchen excited about what we knew our treasure would bring! Our Mom, hand cranked a grinder on the 2 tiered porcelain sink, smiled and whipped up magic! It wasn’t always magic at home… but those days were. She made heavenly clam cakes, clam fritters, & stuffed clams from our illicit gain, & we smiled at the joy of it!
I don’t have my mother’s recipe… I am not sure she followed one. But… I imagine, if she did, it was this: Stuffed Quohogs with fresh linguisa & veggies ♡
